DFS, the German air navigation service provider, will take part in the Born2Brick event taking place at the Theater Rüsselsheim, Germany, on 6 and 7 June 2026 to show how exciting the interplay between technology and air traffic control can be. Anyone interested, including members of the media, is warmly invited to attend and engage with our experts.
The focus will be on engineering in air traffic control, and the wider field of air navigation services, presented in a clear and engaging manner, with opportunities for attendees to get hands-on. Under the motto 'LEGO today, engineering tomorrow', DFS will show in a practical way how initial design ideas evolve into complex systems and how playful building can lead to a career in a technical profession.
A highlight will be the interactive workshops where participants will get a chance to build a DFS control tower. Attendees will construct their own control tower from LEGO bricks and discover the engineering considerations and processes behind a real control tower. This will illustrate how the basics of experimentation and construction can lead directly into the world of air navigation services, right up to a potential future career as an engineer.
There will also be opportunities to talk to air traffic controllers and students enrolled in dual-study degree programmes at DFS. They will provide first-hand insights into their day-to-day work, training and personal career paths.
With its presence at Born2Brick, DFS aims in particular to inspire young people to pursue technical careers and to show that initial experiences – such as building with LEGO – can lead to concrete career opportunities. The company will also be providing information on training to become an air traffic controller, as well as on further entry-level and development opportunities.
Born2Brick will take place at the Theater Rüsselsheim on 6 June from 10:00 to 19:00 hrs and on 7 June from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs. Participation in the workshops is free of charge. Registration is only possible on site at the information stand, and places are limited.
