This year, for the first time since 2014, DFS, the German air navigation service provider, is returning with its own stand to the ILA Berlin Air Show.
Spanning two levels, the DFS stand offers a first-hand look at modern air traffic control, and the wider field of air navigation services. As part of Germany’s critical infrastructure, DFS will show how it coordinates aircraft flying overhead in one of the world’s most densely used airspaces. On a large interactive monitor, visitors will be able to follow the work in the control tower of Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), simulated live using the Air Traffic Live simulator. The Spacing Assistant demonstrates how intelligent systems maintain optimal spacing between aircraft to ensure safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic. Glow Track makes flight paths strikingly visible, demonstrating that Germany is one of Europe’s most important transit countries both on the ground and in the sky.
Our experts will also explain how DFS, in its role supporting national defence, actively helps to protect Germany and what this has to do with drones.
A team from the DFS recruiting unit will be on hand to answer questions about the various career opportunities in air navigation services. Air traffic controllers will be on hand to offer a glimpse into their demanding profession, while our engineers will explain the systems working ‘behind the scenes’ – the tracking and surveillance technology used in air traffic control. At the DFS stand, (Hall C, Booth 201) visitors can experience the world of aviation up close.
DFS will also be represented with presentations at the Aviation Stage / Hall C:
