Geo data

Geodata

In March 2017, the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) declared DFS to be the body that holds geodata for air transport networks for the Federal Government.

Under Section 3(8) and Section 4(3) of the German Geodata Access Law (GeoZG), as the national implementation of the INSPIRE Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, DFS is therefore, with immediate effect, to be considered an information-providing body for the publication of geodata under Section 2(1)(2) of the German Environmental Information Act (UIG in German).

In accordance with the Directive, DFS publishes air transport network data which fall within its area of responsibility.

The data set includes information on the following:

  • navaids
  • routes
  • waypoints
  • airports/heliports
  • runways
  • airspace

The data can be downloaded as both Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Feature Service (WFS).

The DFS air transport network data can be displayed by integrating the URLs in a suitable client software, such as QGIS or ArcGIS Explorer.
